AVK Philippines are proud to have been supplying DN1400 BU Bonneted Gate to Angat Dam and help secure the water supply for Manila Water and Maynilad
AVK Philippines Inc. supplied BU Bonneted Gates 1400 in diameter with PN16 flange drilling, and real working pressure of 150 m.w.c coupled with Auma electric actuator. Gates acquire with 2 pieces of DN150 gate valve all delivered at Angat Dam, a water reservoir located in Norzagaray, Bulacan.
J.K. Builders Inc. who handles the project, consulted their requirement to Peter Thomson of AVK to help them with the "Reliability Project" in Angat Dam. The BU Bonneted Gate was found to be the solution and fit to their requirement. The valve was provided by Orbinox, a dedicated member of AVK Group of Companies. Orbinox is only one of the many options under AVK who manufactures own large-diameter valves used in Dam, Reservoirs and Hydropower. It is based in Spain where the Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) was conducted last July 2022 to ensure that the materials of the item will pass the standards and specifications before they are sent to the Philippines.
In accordance with Manila Waters' contractor, J.K. Builder's Project Engineer Emelson Retutal, they find the need to install BU-Bonneted Gate in Angat Dam because the National Power Corporation (NAPOCOR) will conduct a rehabilitation plan. And the plan requires a replacement of their electric turbine and will have to perform shutdown due to maintenance purposes. Despite these activity in Angat Dam, AHC made alternatives to not affect Manila Water and Maynilad's water supply services to over millions of families in NCR, Bulacan, Rizal, Laguna and Cavite area.
In addition, one of the reasons for the implementation of the project is due to continuous reduction of water supply and the inability to obtain its maximum level from Angat Dam. As a result, they had to make a Level Outlet to also prevent the presence of sediments or what is called accumulated debris.
According to Engineer Emelson Retutal, since then, AVK providing solutions and special valve specification help them to proceed and make the project feasible.
Gates are all now installed in Angat Dam.
