Surge anticipation control valve, full bore, for water and neutral liquids to max. 70° C
AVK series 859 diaphragm actuated surge anticipation and relief control valves constantly monitor the system pressure to protect against pressure surges. The surge anticipating pilot senses the rapid pressure drop caused by e.g. a power failure to the pump, often followed by a rapid and dangerous high-pressure surge. The drop below the low anticipating pilot setpoint opens the valve to anticipate the upcoming high-pressure surge. When the pressure from the high-pressure surge hits the valve, the pressure relief pilot opens the valve to dump excess pressure when exceeding the high relief pilot setpoint. When the normal system pressure is in between the respectively high and low pilot setpoints, the valve is closed. Precise setting and easy adjustment on the pilot handles without use of any tools.

Features
- The lifted seat design ensures less damage to the internal surface of the valve body in the vicinity of the seat area, due to cavitation
- The parabolic shape of the plug creates a smooth regulating characteristic with low gain around the near-closed positions improving control performance at low flow
- Non-symmetric axial position of rubber diaphragm results in low stretch stress when closed
- Body and bonnet of ductile iron coated with fusion bonded epoxy, 300 micron, GSK approved, RAL 5017, according to DIN 3476 and WRAS-DVGW/W270/UBA
- All rubber parts approved for drinking water
- All non-coated internal parts in stainless steel
- A needle valve fitted to the connection of the control chamber, allows for adjustment of the regulation reaction time
- Closing the needle valve isolates the control chamber and fixes the position of the main valve plug. This allows for service of the pilot circuit, cleaning filter etc. without causing the valve to open fully
